The Music Law Conference at The University of Florida Levin College of Law is hosting its 8th annual conference on February 27, 2010. The conference brings together musicians, lawyers, students, academics, policy makers and entertainment professionals for a weekend to network, learn, and share ideas. It is our goal that everyone, from the disgruntled ex-band member to the seasoned entertainment attorney, who attends the conference will leave with a new perspective on the music industry.

The theme of this year's conference is "Music Law Conference 2.0: Out of Beta." The discussion will focus on the music industry’s shift to digital media and its implications.

Topics for this year will include: file sharing, Internet Radio, licensing, Rock Band and Guitar Hero, social networking and Internet promotion, and more.

The Conference is scheduled for Feb. 27, 2010 (Saturday) in the Chesterfield Smith Ceremonial Classroom at the University of Florida Levin College of Law. The conference and panel discussions will take place from 9 am to 6 pm. (See the Schedule for more details.)

The live music showcase will be on the evening of Feb. 27, 2010 from 9pm to 1:30am at Common Grounds, Gainesville’s premiere local music venue. The showcase will feature popular local and regional bands. Last year's showcase was a huge success and sold out. It is not to be missed. Ticket prices will be $6 in advance and $8 at the door (+ $2 for under 21).

More information on registration and fees can be found on the registration page. University of Florida students and faculty are admitted free to this event (with a Gator1 card), but please register in advance, as seating is limited!

For more information about the conference please e-mail MusicLawConference@gmail.com. Visit our blog at musiclawconference.blogspot.com.

Thank you for your interest. We hope to see you there!
