There may need to be a clarification on the address and venue name... but no this is not a typo. Also, it's happening as part of ArtWalk, so it shouldn't be too much of a conflict with the other show.

Flyer's up... but I have a strong feeling that the venue is wrong on it. Either way it's happening on that block.

Chris doesn't want it called Fillie's.

The address is 435 South Main Street if it's the former church space.

So, last night I noticed a sign on the venue space which says... "George's". Recycled name on a recycled sign... gotta come up with something better and more original, Fillie.

Anyway, it's the old 24-hour church space next to the new CMC. See everyone there at 8:00pm!

Already calling it "George's" has been confusing to people.

We're a group of creatively minded people -- let's toss out some names for him. He's already said not to have "church" in the name, either.

Did anyone manage to catch any of the music that happened there last night? It's unfortunate how the situation seemed to have been mismanaged.

I actually went to this... for a short bit. Right as soon as Oddknock finished his set at The Atlantic I biked back over to the as-of-yet-unnamed-space.

attachedhands had finished playing and I was able to catch two songs from Discovery Of Magnetic North. Much quieter and more downtempo than what I had just left, I still had untapped energy left in me which made me careen and jerk about in my labcoat/goggles combo. There were projections on the wall, but they were sadly lost in the architecture and light pollution from outside... more like an afterthought. One of the two DoMN guys had picked up a microphone at this point and began to sing a bit... but there were feedback problems and I had to rush back so as not to miss Entertainment.

I did end up buying a DoMN cdr (nice layout and packaging) and a t-shirt. Also, it turned out that my friend Jeff (who I had not seen since 1990!) was in the band, northvia. What an unexpected treat running into someone from the past!

Chris Fillie was very excited and happy to have this (debut) show going on in his new space. I made sure to criticize the bad choice in venue names as he changed the sign from "George's" to George's II". It was very hot, and the three visiting bands christened it "The Hotbox". There are two bathrooms and a good-sized room in the back. There's a space in the front which would be perfect for merch, dj booth, video projection, etc. I wasn't there long enough though so I wasn't able to get a good feel for the space.

As far as "mismanagement", I would say that my main criticisms of the night were... that we had been advertising the show to be at 8:00pm but the bands were just starting to show up by then, the electrical wires were still being rigged and fans brought in while the bands set up (it was dark and hot), at one point I heard the question "where's the P.A.?, the show had been decided to be pushed back to 10:00pm by Fillie and even after voicing our concerns of conflict he still stood by the time, and of course the space still did not have a name by opening night. I wish I could have seen the bands perform, especially since they had driven all the way up here from Orlando. Fillie was actually telling people that there would be second performances by the bands after 2:00am which I did not believe at all, and was proven correct upon my return to a near-empty space after The Atlantic show had ended... but not as empty as that WGOT dj-event was the whole night at the CMC (whole other rant).

Anyway... I am curious to see what this place has to offer and would be interested in doing some shows there!

Myself, Hal McGee, and John David Eriksen were there at 8:00. We went to check out The Laboratory (located next to Hear Again on University) and get some coffee/food since the bands were still loading in. Chris Miller showed up on his bike as we were leaving the CMC/Story House parking lot. By the time we returned there were a lot of other people milling about, waiting for things to start. At 10:00 most of us left and walked down to The Atlantic.
